NOISE CANSELLING TECHNOLOGY
The theory surrounding noise and hum elimination is not novel but eliminating the interference is not a simple task. Kinetic Pickups utilize the counter dummy bobbin along with the active bobbin. However, the technology has always had one serious drawback: dummy bobbins can effectively eliminate the noise but also can kill a good amount of required sound from the active bobbin. Typical noiseless pickups as a result don’t sound authentic when compared to a standard pickup with all the noise. There are frequencies that drop out, especially in the high range and the sound gets strangled and sterile.
When making our Noiseless P90 we match the active and dummy bobbins together in such a way that they are able to eliminate the unwanted noise while retaining the full spectrum of desired sound. It's not an easy task yet numerous tests have proven this approach works. However, there is one big drawback in this technology — it’s a very tedious and time-consuming work. Electronic measurement tools are of no use here. Only human ears can pick up the right balance. Our P90s have to be made by hand and then meticulously ear tested and matched.
Adjusting the coils is just the first step; providing proper shielding and grounding is the second. To maximize effectiveness, multilayer alloys of several materials must be employed. Copper is effective at preventing Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) at specific frequencies, while nickel, silver, and aluminum are efficient at protecting against the other range of frequencies.
Kinetic Pickups guarantees the highest level of noise and hum elimination, outperforming that of other brands.

SOUND OF KINETIC PICKUPS
Hum cancellation isn’t our pickups' main advantage. We paid significant attention to the sound quality. Because we enjoy the pickups of the past, we tried to make our product sound as vintage as possible.
Cheap modern magnets provide harsher sounds and unappealing high-end frequencies. It happens because they do not let the strings vibrate freely and breathe. There should be provided a certain magnetic field with qualities similar to historical magnets. Special order magnets that replicate the chemical metal fusion found in vintage pickups should be specially manufactured at extra expense.
The right amount of wire on a coil is another important factor for the sound. Modern pickups tend to overwind coils to have greater output but it reduces high-end clarity.
Hotter pickups provide a better response, making them easier to play. However, there is another side to the medal: they have increased impedance which acts as a low-pass filter, reducing the signal’s treble response and making the signal compressed.
Vintage pickups have lower output because they have fewer turns of wire. The lower impedance produces a cleaner, more dynamic sound with greater touch sensitivity. This contrasts with modern pickups and is a defining characteristic of the design and a key factor in the Vintage Sound.
Kinetic Pickups produce an output that is similar to antique models, offering authentic sound as close as possible while also providing excellent playability and convenience. P90s are considered to be the noisiest pickups. It was a special challenge to develop our version of P90. Now we are confident that our Noiseless P90 and P94 will be an excellent choice to those who are not willing to compromise on a genuine vintage tone but need to eliminate the unwanted noise.
MYSTERY AROUND VINTAGE SOUND
Most guitar lore is shrouded with mystery and haze when it comes to the vintage sound. A game-changing insight was to discover distinctions between modern pickups and prime vintage examples.
We believe that vintage P90s sound open, warm, balanced and natural. They breathe freely with the full sound moving forward thus helping a guitar player to create good music. On the contrary the modern versions sound harsh, unmusical and with that feeling as if something is pulling backwards.
We conducted thousands of tests to better understand how magnetic fields work in vintage P90s and in those we attempted to design. It may seem daring to say, but we have done our best to produce products that sound "in your face", open, musical, and capable of providing the feeling of free full breath advantage.
Handcrafted Kinetic Pickups showcase the art of shaping the sound based on vintage tone and innovative hum elimination technology.
DEISGN FEATURES OF P90s
At their core of P-90 pickups are very large single coil bobbins. Yes, size matters, as it encompasses a larger area and captures wider string vibrations than Tele or Strat bobbins. A wider magnetic aperture picks up more of the string oscillation, allowing P90s to capture more bass and low mid frequencies. The smother decay results in a softer and fatter sound.
The wires are wrapped closer to the poles, and magnetic flux fields perform far better and more effectively than in Singles and even Humbuckers. The higher inductance results in higher output.
Double alnico magnets, each the size of a full humbucker magnet, increase the overall output but also add to the greater hum issue. Furthermore, the larger the front area of a pickup, the more noise a pickup will produce. A standard Strat single has a smaller front area and it is less noisy than a bulky P90. The P-94 is a humbucker-sized single-coil pickup designed to replicate the P-90 tone and sound while fitting in a humbucker routing.

VERSATILITY AND USE IN VARIOUS MUSIC GENERS
There is one thing all guitar players agree on: P-90s are among the most versatile tone generators ever created. We can't imagine playing death metal on a Tele, nailing an authentic jazz tone with a Strat, or chicken pickin' with a humbucker, but we’d feel pretty confident covering all of those bases with a good P-90.
For more than 80 years, P90s have evolved in response to changing trends, finding a natural home in a variety of musical landscapes. They are valued for their distinct tonal signature and ability to cut through the mix with a prominent character. Their unique adaptability makes them a preferred choice for various playing styles, adding a distinct feature to each.
Character: P90s are rich with harmonic complexity that adds depth to your playing. From the soulful melodies of jazz to the gritty aggression of hard rock and punk. Their vintage charm adds a layer of authenticity to your music, inviting you to journey through the sounds of eras past. Plus adding an extremely expressive clarity of dynamic range and elegantly responding to your playing nuances.
When you hear how P90s can beautifully cut through a mix with elegant balance and musicality, your smile will reveal this fact more than any words.
Tone: P90s offer a blend of warmth and bite with plenty of that mid-range brightness and "spank" making them ideal for those bluesy lead lines. Granting that unmistakable shimmery nature of regular single-coils and the fuller, thicker and fatter output of humbuckers.
Distorted tones have grit in them, so you don’t have to worry about sounding too thin.
