THE QUADRO HUMBUCKER: A HYBRID MULTI-VOICE SONIC BEAST
Double P90 coils with four magnets fused into a high-powered hybrid humbucker. This multi-voice sonic beast delivers an entirely new sound profile, blending the deep low-end thump of a traditional humb with the defined mids and crisp, detailed highs of a vintage P90 vibe.
- Dual-P90 Architecture: Fuses two distinct P90 coils into a humbucker format.
- Quad-Magnet Power: Utilizes four magnets for enhanced output and tone.
- True Humbucking: Delivers classic hum-canceling performance with a unique sonic footprint.
The QUADRO eliminates the typical humbucker muffled sound, delivering pristine note separation and crystal-clear chord clarity. Super punchy, responsive, and ultra-quiet, this multi-voice pickup excels across a broad spectrum—cutting through the mix on old-school blues-rock solos and delivering massive, noise-free power for modern high-gain heavy metal riffs.
THE STORY BEHIND THESE PICKUPS
What happens when you merge two P90s into a single design? This challenging innovation turned out to be a massive success, yielding a distinct sonic signature that breaks the mold of traditional pickup categories. It creates an entirely new sound profile and a completely unique tonal character unlike any standard pickup you have ever heard. Instead of a traditional single magnet, we resolved to use four—which inspired its name. This configuration unlocks major hum-cancellation benefits alongside an immense upgrade in output power and tonal richness. The result is a hybrid beast—part P90, part humbucker—that offers the absolute best of both worlds.
This multi-voice pickup delivers a broader tonal palette than standard humbuckers, eliminating their typical muffled sound. It is super punchy and responsive, making it easy to inject real feeling into your playing. The design integrates advanced modern technology while honoring the legendary 1950s and 1960s tonal heritage of Fender and Gibson. This versatile pickup excels across a broad spectrum, ranging from traditional blues-rock to modern heavy metal where exceptional noise reduction is vital.
Engineered for musicians exploring uncharted sonic territory, our QUADRO Humbuckers blend the deep, low-frequency impact of a traditional humbucker with the defined midrange and sparkling, detailed highs of a P90. This versatile design delivers exceptional clarity for lead work while injecting authoritative weight into chords and power to huge high-gain riffs.
Here's something fascinating about how Humbuckers work. Guitar pickups act like antennas, picking up EMI, which gets amplified as noise. Humbuckers address this issue with a clever design: the two coils are wired together electrically out of phase, forcing the signal, including the noise, to cancel each other. However, because the magnet for the two coils is placed with opposite polarity, the desired signal comes back while the cancelled noise stays cancelled. How brilliant is that? Two coils working together to silence the noise but keep the tone.
THE CLEVER TRICK BEHIND THE SOUND
A traditional humbucker features one bobbin with adjustable screw poles and another with fixed slug pole pieces. From an engineering standpoint, this asymmetrical design is fundamentally the wrong approach if your primary goal is to eliminate noise.
At first glance, it seems remarkably straightforward: make two identical bobbins, and there's no hum or noise. However, two elements come into play. First, the signal enters one coil and exits the other, resulting in a timing discrepancy as it travels a particular distance. Second, two coils capture not quite similar vibrations from strings. The coils are placed side by side, allowing them to pick up vibrations from different zones of the string. You may observe that when you pluck a string near the neck pickup, the sound is fuller and louder than when you pluck the same string at the bridge.
Our approach to producing Strat and Tele singles, in which we match coils for hum elimination while preserving the full spectrum of desired sound, has proven its efficiency. We decided to match the coils in various combinations and realized we could adjust the sound spectrum and noise levels. However, there's one significant disadvantage to this technology: it's very tedious and time-consuming work. Electronic measurement tools are of no use here. Only human ears can pick up the right balance. The product has to be made by hand and then meticulously ear tested and matched. This is craftsmanship at its finest.
NOISE CANCELLING TECH: WHERE ART MEETS SCIENCE
Adjusting the coils is just the first step. Providing proper shielding and grounding is the second. To maximize effectiveness, multilayer alloys of several materials must be employed. Copper is effective at preventing EMI at specific frequencies, while nickel, silver, and aluminum are efficient at protecting against the other range of frequencies.
The secret to a completely quiet ride? The metal cover. To make a humbucker truly noiseless, the cover is an indispensable shielding element that cuts down hum and noise by a massive 30% to 40%.
SHIELDING: THE FINAL TOUCH
Handcrafted Kinetic Pickups feature the art of shaping guitar sound, bridging true vintage tone, cutting-edge engineering, and innovative hum-canceling tech. This is exactly what you need if you're after a stunning upgrade that can truly transform and enrich your instrument with entirely new multi-voice sonic domination. It will expand the scope of your expressive powers and playing talents on a whole new level. These unique hybrid beasts - part P90, part humbuckers - offer the absolute best of both worlds. They provide a massive low-end thump of humbuckers, defined mid’s, and crisp and detailed treble frequencies of P90s. They work incredibly well for solos, but also help lend a bit of weight to chord work and power to huge riffs. This isn't some mass-produced recreation with marketing hype attached. This is the real deal.
Kinetic Pickups guarantees industry-leading hum and noise elimination alongside a unique vintage vibe that outperforms the competition.
Let’s be honest about humbuckers, calling them 'noiseless' isn't entirely accurate. They cancel out some background hum, but they aren't truly silent performers. Since the two coils are not stacked together but placed side by side, they pick up different vibrations from the strings as well as different EMI. The signals and hum are not truly identical in the bobbins, so some of the desired frequencies as well as some hum in the sound are removed. This results in the downside of a humbucker: they tend to sound muffled and less dynamic compared to a single-coil pickup of a Strat or a Tele. You still get articulation from your notes, but there's a noticeable difference in clarity and response. A humbucker just won't bite in the same way as a single coil does, and although you can get a humbucker to coil split and use just one side, it never sounds equally as open and dynamic as a standard single coil.
In fact, under high gain, Kinetic Pickups Noiseless Single-Coils deliver significantly less noise and hum than a standard humbucker, proving that stacked tech can out-perform the classic design.
