NOISE CANCELLING TECHNOLOGY
The principles behind noise and hum reduction are not new, but achieving true interference elimination without compromising tone is anything but simple. Kinetic Pickups use a counter-wound dummy bobbin paired with an active bobbin. While this approach has been around for years, it has always carried a major drawback: dummy bobbins often cancel noise at the expense of essential tone.
As a result, many so-called “noiseless” pickups fail to sound authentic when compared to traditional single-coil pickups. Critical frequencies—especially in the high range—are often lost, leaving the sound closed-in and unnatural. To address this, I developed custom magnets that create a precisely controlled magnetic field and selected specialized lead wires that help preserve clarity, openness, and natural high-end response.
Kinetic Pickups are engineered by carefully matching the active and dummy bobbins so they cancel unwanted noise while retaining the full spectrum of desirable tone. Achieving this balance is extremely challenging, but extensive testing has proven that the method works. There is, however, one significant drawback: the process is painstaking and time-consuming. Conventional electronic measurement tools are of little help. Only trained human ears can determine the correct balance.
Each pickup must be built entirely by hand, then meticulously tested, adjusted, and matched by ear. This process cannot be automated or replicated in a mass-production environment, and likely never will be. For that reason, every Kinetic Pickup is personally crafted by me and individually refined. This level of care and precision makes them inherently more expensive than standard pickups—but it is also what makes them truly special.
