THE STORY BEHIND THESE PICKUPS
Having previously owned a gorgeous 1965 Gibson ES-125 TCD. Later on, after crafting my own Strat and Tele single-coils and humbuckers, I couldn't stop thinking about how incredible those old P90s sounded. I decided to channel that vintage Gibson magic and develop my own take on that iconic pickup design.
42AWG is a standard coil wire for classic pickups. Initial tests blew us away with spectacular attack and deep, rich harmonic overtones. Activating both pickups in the middle position unlocked stunningly beautiful, never-before-heard tones.
The unique, original tonal profile of these pickups will leave a lasting impression on any guitar player.
A big plus is that they stay remarkably quiet in the middle position, even with high gain.
Prepare to lose yourself for hours discovering the brand-new, captivating tones of this incredible P90 set.
Capture the authentic sounds of the early 1950s with the Classic P90 Set. Whether you are upgrading your current setup or crafting a custom instrument, this set delivers the legendary P90 magic you're after. Expect a thick, full-bodied tone loaded with vintage soul, aggressive bite, and the raw, touch-sensitive dynamics that define the best single-coils.
THE ULTIMATE HYBRID TONE: UNCLEASH THE POWER OF THE P90
The P90 is the holy grail of in-between tones, where single-coil clarity meets humbucker muscle power. By fusing the bobbin topology of a single with all its clarity and articulation with the dual-magnet powerhouse design of a humbucker P90 cuts straight through any densest mix.
Difference between 42AWG and 43AWG in the P90 design.
42AWG: Thicker wire that takes up more space, resulting in fewer total turns on the bobbin. This produces a lower output with a brighter, crisper, and more articulate response closer to the traditional single-coil.
Sound: snappier with bell-like clarity, high-end sparkle, perfect string-to-string articulation, superb dynamics.
Guitars: Ideal for Tele and Strat-style guitars, or any instrument that requires a brighter tonal profile.
Styles: Blues, country, surf, rock, pop
43AWG: Thinner wire that allows for more wraps in the same amount of space. This creates a higher output with a darker, punchier, and more mid-heavy profile.
Sound: Rich, thick, bold, muscular warmth, sweet highs, add some gain and get a compressed gritty midrange punch that pushes your tone closer to classic humbucker territory.
Guitars: Gibson-style guitars like SG, Les Paul, hollow body, dark-sounding mahogany, goes well for Tele as well in rock or heavier context
Styles: Jazz, blues, rock, punk, metal, progressive

CONCLUSION
The enduring appeal of classic P90s lies in their dynamic relationship with the guitarist.
Kinetic P90s interact directly with your playing style, shifting effortlessly from aggressive bite to clean tones, delivering powerful grit under a heavy hand, yet turning crisp and clear with lighter strokes.
Here is what that means in practice. When you play with a light touch, you get the glassy shimmer and natural compression of a lightly struck string. The note has space around it, room to breathe. When you attack harder, the pickup doesn't clamp down or get brittle, it translates the force into more output without losing the harmonic integrity. The note sustains longer because the string is still vibrating cleanly. The overtones stay present rather than collapsing into a flat, compressed blob.
Everything from magnet selection to winding patterns is engineered to give you perfect string-to-string balance and unmatched responsiveness. This ensures every ounce of your personal touch shines through. If you prioritize expressive playing, this flawless guitar-to-player connection is vital—because when your instrument actually sings with you instead of fighting your every move, it completely transforms your tone, technique, and overall joy.

CLASSIC P90 SET FEATURES:
Great vintage pickups breathe. There is no other word for it. They open up and let the instrument speak, warm, full, dynamically honest. The warmth isn't just a frequency curve, it's a quality of harmonic presence that makes notes feel complete rather than skeletal. The fullness isn't about volume, it's about how the pickup captures the full spectrum of string vibration rather than just the fundamental and a few select overtones.
After a lot of testing and real study of how magnets behave over time and under string tension, the goal here was to recreate that quality: clear, immediate, expressive. Not a simulation of vintage tone but a faithful reconstruction of what actually made those pickups feel so alive.
When you play, you want the note to bloom the way it does when you hear a great acoustic guitar in a good room. That bloom, that sense of the sound expanding and then slowly decaying, that's what vintage tone means to us.
That's what we were after.
VINTAGE SOUND CHARACTERISTICS
We paid significant attention to sound quality because we genuinely love the pickups of the past.
Here's the problem with cheap modern magnets. They provide harsh sounds and unappealing high-end frequencies. They don't let the strings vibrate freely or breathe. We use special order magnets that replicate the chemical metal fusion found in vintage pickups, manufactured at extra expense.
The right amount of wire on a coil is crucial. Modern pickups tend to overwind coils for greater output, but this reduces high-end clarity. Hotter pickups provide better response and make playing easier. But they have increased impedance which acts as a low-pass filter, reducing treble response and compressing your sound.
Vintage pickups have lower output because they have fewer turns of wire. That lower impedance produces a cleaner, more dynamic sound with greater touch sensitivity. This is the defining characteristic of vintage tone. This is the key to that magic you're searching for.
Kinetic Pickups produce output similar to antique models, offering authentic sound as close as possible while providing excellent playability.
